Happy Wednesday everyone.
It's been a busy day with rehearsals getting ready for a short road trip. This weekend, and on Saturday I am looking forward to catching up with some of my favorite kin' folk. Next week is shaping up to be a busy week as well. Tuesday October 4th we'll be at the Hearing Room in Lowell with Lori Zuroff. Music starts at 7:00. On Friday , October 7th, when I will be playing at Angela's Coal Fire Pizza in Tyngsboro Ma. from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Start your weekend off right with and join us for a night of fun. I'll be covering some of your favorite artists and might even sneak in some new material that will surprise you. I am really looking forward to this one because I do love pizza, and outside of the North End, Angela's has the best thin crust pizza around. So come hungry, come thirsty, and come ready to party!!!!! Also, I have some other local dates coming up and I'll keep you all posted here in the blog and on Facebook. Sox can clinch tonight. Go SOX!!!!! See you soon, Hugh

Hope everyone has recovered from watching the debate last night. I almost wish I just watched the Sox game instead. It was almost like watching a skit on Saturday Night Live, except it really was more sad than funny.
Anyway, I will be down at the Hearing Room this evening for another open mic with Rick Cande. It should be a great night and Rick kicks things off at 7:00. Hopefully Rick will bring his harmonicas and maybe we can do a couple of Neil Young tune together. I had some requests to post the lyrics of "Imperfect People" on the You Tube Video so for the time being I have written them out here. I also have another new one in the works that I may preview this evening. Just trying to workout the guitar work on the chorus. Check out the video of Imperfect people (listed under movie) on the Audio Video page, or on YouTube on the Hugh McQueen Channel. Peace, Hugh We're just a world full of imperfect people trying to survive another day we don't know who to trust the country's going bust and the only thing that's left is just to pray.................. 'Cause there's this orange megalomaniac with bad hair I don't envy telling us how he'll make everything so great he wants to build a wall, throws crying babies from the hall and while he's at it ban all Muslims at the gate Then there's Madame secretary wants to make Bill her first lady for things she's done already well we could incarcerate but the FBI report says it's okay she didn't mean it so those campaign contributions keep on filling up her plate We're just a world full of imperfect people trying to survive another day We can't trust the media the network news or wikipedia surely Walter Cronkite's rolling over in his grave Now liar liar with her pants suit on fire says she has no answers but together we can come up with a plan but with the DNC and company she sure had plans for Bernie now she's asking for your vote simply because she's not a man and that real estate mogul, that started off with zero except his ego and a million bucks from dad his political incorrectness has endeared him like some hero to the masses that believe his hateful bluster....its so sad yeah we're just a world full of imperfect people trying to survive another day there's no one left to trust deficit spendings got us going bust and the only thing that's left is just to pray... we're just a world full of imperfect people trying to survive another day and left to our own devices surely we'll be killed by isis unless the GOP or the DNC beat them to it along the way. Imperfect People (c) August 2016 Happy Sunday
I hope you are all having a great weekend. It's been a busy day today. Started things out when Elise and I did the Jack Kerouac 5K in Lowell. My internet guru Kerien Driscoll and her friend Kayla finished 3rd and 2nd in their division. Way to go. And thanks to Melissa,Juliana, Rebecca,Kayla and Kerien for waiting for us with the oxygen tanks at the finish line!Needless to say Elise and I crossed the finish line a little later than they did but we had a really nice trip along the scenic banks of the Merrimack and it was a fun morning, This afternoon we posted a video of 'Imperfect People' on the Audio/Video page of the site and also on You Tube. If you are on You Tube just search for Hugh McQueen and you should see it. The song is a tribute to the Donald and Hilary, and I use the word tribute very loosely. I wanted to get the song on You Tube prior to Monday night's debate between the worst choices we have had in any Presidential Election I can recall in my lifetime. Give it a listen and share it if you enjoy it. Maybe I can end up on Jimmy Kimmel or the Late Show. The sound quality is not the greatest because it was recorded on a lap top but I promise the studio version will be much better quality. Tuesday evening I will be back at the Hearing Room in Lowell for another open mic from 7 to 10. Please let us know what you think of the Imperfect People Video, and have a great night all. Hugh Happy Friday to all.
I guess today is officially the first Friday of the Fall, but I just do not want to let go of the summer. Long Sands is calling me for a long weekend and just do not want to have to start wearing socks again! Anyway, I have to apologize for the disappearance of yesterday's blog post. It somehow vanished into thin cyberspace, so let me fill you in on what you missed which really was not much since "Thursdays are for Practice,Rehearsal, and Football", First of all , I predicted a victory for the Patriots, which does not make me Nostradamus but considering all the experts were calling for a Houston win and the Patriots were starting a third string QB it was a coin toss. The calendar on the website is still having issues so until they are resolved I will continue posting upcoming dates on the Facebook Page and the like. Open mics went well this week and thanks to all of you that came out to show support. Special shout out to my old friend Demitris that hung out with me at the Riverwalk Cafe on Wednesday evening. We were definitely the oldest dudes in the place. The only thing older were the jokes the "comedian" was reading off of his flash cards. There were many great young performers and some excellent song writers throughout the course of the evening. If you are ever in the Nashua area on a Wednesday night I would recommend checking out the Riverwalk Cafe, located in Railroad Square at the north end of downtown Nashua..... the food looked amazing, and they have 20 ounce cups of coffee!!!!!!! A couple of new videos are on the way and will hopefully be posted sometime this weekend. There will be one brand new Original and one cover. They'll both be up on the Audio/Video Page on the site as well as the You Tube Channel soon let me know what you think. The original is a song I called "Imperfect People", but it is starting to be referred to as " the candidate song". Anyway, comments are appreciated as long as they are kind. Be kind to one another, Hugh I Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Wednesday .
I had a great time last night at the Hearing Room in Lowell. Thanks to Lori Zuroff for hosting, and thank you Caelin for adding in some fiddle on Cowgirl in the Sand. It was awesome. I will be heading up to Nashua this evening making a couple of stops. At 6:00 you will find me at the Country Tavern on Amherst St. Rumor has it that the place is actually haunted but I am taking my chances. At 7:30 I will be heading over to the open Mike Nite at the Riverwalk Cafe in Railroad Square. There is a three dollar cover at the Riverwalk but it can be used at credit towards drinks or food. If you are in the neighborhood stop in. It would be great to see some friendly faces. Cervantes said that the "road is better than the inn". Sometimes I lose sight of that fact. Today I hope everyone of you is making the most out of your own journey. Safe Travels, Hugh Welcome to the Hugh McQueen Music Project Blog. This is my first posting. I'll be using this page to share information and whatever other musings strike me as worthy of sharing .
That said, I have never concerned myself all that much with being politically correct, as Elise will attest to, so I will apologize in advance now for any future postings that might cross the line. My intent here is not to offend anyone, but to have a little fun and keep the lines of communication open with fans of the Hugh McQueen Music Project. Feel free to post any comments you may want to share, and try to keep it relatively clean. My wife and daughters might be reading this. Gigs are coming so keep and eye on the calendar of events. I have been spending a lot of hours working on new material and scraping the rust off some classics. I will be doing another open mic at the Hearing Room in Lowell Massachusetts this evening from 7 until 10. Tonight's host is Lori Zuroff, an amazing songstress with some great jazz and blues stylings. It promises to be a great evening featuring several talented artists from the area so stop by the Hearing Room on Chelmsford St. if you are in the area. Stay safe and thanks for dropping by the website. Hugh McQueen |
