24 days 'til the end of Christmas Commercials

Happy December 1st everyone,

Well the second set for the Show at the Hearing Room this Saturday is ready. Thanks to those of you that put in requests. Additions to the set list include songs by Counting Crows, Howie Day, Five for Fighting and Eric Clapton.  We are hoping for a good turnout, so if you need a break from Holiday shopping we hope to see you there. We will be at Angela's in Tyngsborough on the following Friday, but these two shows are the last chances you'll have to catch us this year,

It's hard to belive that 2016 is almost over, but here we are on December 1st, just thirty days before the ghost of Dick Clark possesses Ryan Seacrest. I never quite understood the appeal of thousands of people spending the day using portable toilets in Times Square just to get crammed together and to be  exposed to every known germ and virus known to man,  all for the sake of watching the famous ball drop to ring in the New Year.
I don't think I am really going to miss 2016. Don't get me wrong, it had a few notable moments to celebrate, especially if you're a Cubs Fan, but in it's entirety it was a pretty rough year. Let's just say
that I've had my fill of 2016 and much of what it brought to light, so I made a couple of lists.
In no particular order, these are a few things I am sick of; all the
political rhetoric, the nasty campaign ads, democrats, republicans, biased liberal media, biased conservative media, terrorist attacks, Zika viruses, world disasters, Nuclear Testing in North Korea, Malaysian Planes getting blown out of the sky, panic stricken warnings about global CO2 levels versus the  blatent disregard for the Environment by corporate executives  only concerned about their bottom line and their bonuses, Isis, Kayne West and the Kardashians.

2016 took it's toll on the world of Music with the pasiing of some greats. Forgive me if I've missed any one but here's my personal list of who I am going to miss ; Paul Kantner(Jefferson Airplane?Starship) , Glenn Frey, Prince, Leon Russell, Buckwheat Zydeco, Lonnie Mack,Maurice White(Earth,Wind and Fire) Keith Emerson (ELP), David Bowie, Mose Allison, Merle Haggard, and of course Leonard Cohen. Although these artists have passed on their Music will be with us forever.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could somehow  choose what we carry forward and what we leave behind from year to year? Maybe we can...........................
                                                                                                                  Safe Travels,
                                                                                                                   Hugh
