Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful day in New England, as my thoughts and prayers are with the folks down in the Caribbean and in Florida as they deal with Hurricane Matthew. The raw power of Mother Nature can be devastating as was evidenced in Haiti with many lives lost in the storm. Much of the southern coast of the U.S. is being asked to evacuate and let's hope people heed the warnings so that no more lives are lost.
Today is the final day of rehearsal in preparation for tomorrow night's show at Angela's in Tyngsboro. I stopped by today to check out the venue and I have to tell you, it's a really comfortable atmosphere. I am looking forward to seeing many of you at the show and I will do my best not to disappoint. Music starts at 6:00 pm and goes until 10:00. In addition to adding many new songs to the set lists I have been working on building my stamina. Doing a four hour night is kind of like running a marathon, except that you have to sprint the entire way and still have enough strength to cross the finish line. Tuesday and Wednesday I spent over five hours each day in rehearsal plus I did a Jam session for three hours Tuesday evening with Lori and friends at the Hearing Room in Lowell. I should seriously approach the makers of Tylenol to see if they would like to be my sponsors. After rehearsals wrap up today I am looking forward to putting new strings on both show guitars and kicking back to watch the Red Sox beat Cleveland in their Playoff Opener. Then tomorrow I get to play roadie, electrician, sound engineer as I tear it down, pack it up, load it, unload it , set it up, tune it up, and then it's SHOWTIME. Still I confess, running a one man band beats the hell out of doing snow removal and selling cars. Good news for you fellow Sox fans, Friday's game is a 4:30 start so the Sox should be wrapping up the last couple of innings of game two during my first set. I promise I'll try to not be too distracted. Go Sox!!! Hugh

Happy Tuesday.
Hope everyone is having a great week and is all recovered from Sunday's disaster of a game against Buffalo. Good news is that Tom is back in town so Sunday in Cleveland should be a different story. I will be heading over to the Hearing Room shortly for open mike with Lori Zuroff. Always a great night so if you are in the area stop by. Music starts at seven and runs until ten o'clock. I spent a very productive day rehearsing new material and I've added quite a few new songs and artists to the set lists so I look forward to playing some new material Friday at Angela's in Tyngsboro. Meanwhile on the home front, Elise is baking a cake and unfortunately it will not be ready before I have to leave tonight......so...... I was just evicted from the kitchen for trying to sample cake batter. She can really be pretty tough when it comes to defending her turf in the kitchen. All I can say is, they had better save me a piece or there will be trouble. Peace, Hugh Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown today, so let me wish a Happy New Year to all of my Jewish friends.
Elise and I had a great time yesterday catching up with family . Thank you to my niece Meaghan and her husband Stan for welcoming us into your beautiful home and for hosting such a wonderful day. Now I am being told by Elise that I have to add a couple of Taylor Swift songs to my repertoire since she has promised Meg that I would do just that, and who am I to argue with my #1 fan. A busy week ahead with rehearsals and preparation for Friday night, October 7th, at Angela's Coal Fired Pizza in Tyngsboro Massachusetts. I am playing from Six until ten P.M so I hope to see a lot of you come out and have some fun. I will NOT be playing any TS that night I promise you, but I will be doing all of your favorite covers. Please RSVP on the Event we posted on Facebook if you are planning to come by, On Tuesday the 4th I'll be down at the Hearing Room for open mike with Lori Zuroff. It promises to be a great night as well, and goes from 7 to 10, so stop by the Hearing Room on Tuesday if you are in the neighborhood. I may be heading up to an open mike in Manchester NH area mid-week. We will keep you posted on that one for either Wednesday or Thursday. I will have confirmation this week on a couple of upcoming dates for venues in the local area as well so stay tuned. Until then, Enjoy the Patriot's game and Happy New Year! Safe travels, Hugh |
