Welcome to Wednesday,
It seems that many people today are walking around in a state of total disbelief over last night’s election results. For only the fifth time in our nation’s history the Electoral College vote has trumped the popular vote.(pun fully intended) I cannot say I was surprised. I find it a little ironic that after winning the Democratic Nomination over Bernie Sanders with Super Delegates, Madame Secretary loses the election because of the Electoral College, a system that was originally put in place by our founding fathers because they really did not trust the populous vote. As antiquated as you might think the system is, and I readily admit that I think the Electoral College should be abolished, it is the system we have in place. It would be inconsistent for any Clinton supporter to now dispute the results of the Electoral Vote without also questioning the manner in which she was nominated by her own party in the first place. I tried my best to stay up for the results last night after I got home from an open Mic at the Hearing Room in Lowell hosted by Lori Zuroff. I lasted until a little after 2:00 a.m.. They announced that the race was too close to call and that we would not have results until this morning so I called it a night. Then less than an hour later, while I, like most of America was asleep, it was announced that Donald J Trump would be the 45th President of the United States. My political leanings here are of no consequence, but for the sake of fairness I will state for the record that although I did vote yesterday , I did not vote for either Trump or Clinton. I could not bring myself in good conscience to support either one’s bid for the Presidency, and that is my right as a citizen of the United States. I only mention this because as of this morning, regardless of who was declared the President Elect, I know that it is now my duty as a citizen to support them in their efforts to lead this nation once they have taken the oath of office. That does not mean I cannot disagree, comment, complain, peacefully protest or make my opinion known. Freedom of Speech is a cornerstone of our personal freedom, but that does not mean I have the right to say or do things that would infringe on the life, liberty, or rights of others. This morning, Facebook, Twitter, and the rest of the social media were all lighting up with expressions of panic, anger, shock, disbelief, fear, resentment and disappointment. There were also countless examples of taunting, gloating, and mockery. I won’t lie. Some of it struck my funny bone, but a lot of it was really over the top. I sat wondering to myself, Is it even possible to heal this divide? Can we as a people, now find a way, to somehow come together? After witnessing all the divisiveness fueled by two very nasty campaigns, can we remember that when it comes to the big picture we are all on the same team? For the last two years of our lives we have watched countless debates, speeches, and advertisements filled with outright lies, slander, name calling, and manipulation of half truths by both sides. We have been subjected to biased media coverage and to accusations of criminal wrongdoings on both sides, including but not limited to rape, treason, fraud, election tampering, conflict of interests, and influence peddling. HERE’S THE DEAL PEOPLE; It’s time to put the all behind us. It’s time to come together. Regardless of how you feel about the outcome of yesterday’s election, it’s time to remember we all want the same thing. We want our families to to happy, safe, and secure. We want a peaceful life. We are all different, and it is that very diversity that makes us each unique and able to contribute our part in our own way. What makes our Democratic Republic unique is the Peaceful transference of Power from one leader to the next. The world is watching. Our Children are watching. As a former 1st lady once said, let’s work together. Safe Travels, Hugh

Good morning my Fellow Americans,
Today is the day. Whatever side of the political fence you are on, No matter if you, like me, feel the system in general has become broken and corrupted, No matter how cynical, like me, you have become, We all need to get out there today and cast our ballots. Your VOTE counts, maybe not as much for the office of POTUS as it does for other candidates running for local and state positions. We have the ability to affect the future direction taken by our cities, towns, and individual states. Negative campaign advertising filled with half truths added to media bias have made it increasingly difficult for the average citizen to know who or what we can truly believe. So believe this; No one is perfect, Everyone makes mistakes People change their opinions and minds all the time Even Politicians are human (at least some of them anyway) Your individual ballot carries the exact same weight as mine All we can do is try to make the most informed decisions we can. Educate yourself and exercise your right as a citizen to select leaders that will hopefully represent us with integrity, candor, intelligence and compassion. Do your part to overcome the Ignorance and Apathy that has afflicted this nation for far too long. I saw a great post on line this past weekend that pretty much sums up my feelings about daylight savings time, I am paraphrasing here but here’s the deal. This old Native American Chief was asked what he thought about Daylight savings time. He replied,”your government is the only group that would cut a foot of cloth from the top of the blanket, stitch it back onto the bottom and then actually believe it was a foot longer”. Hopefully you all remembered to set your clocks back to EST this weekend or you’ll be early for everything. Safe travels, Hugh Happy Thursday,
Before I start ranting about the unbelievable game 7 of the World Series just a reminder, I hope to see all of you tomorrow night, Friday November 4th at the Hearing Room in Lowell Ma. when we kick off our Official Launch of the HughMcQueenMusicProject. Show starts at 7:30. Tickets just $5.00, BYOB, plenty of free parking and Elise says that there will be lots and lots of snacks!!!!! Holy Cow!!! What a way for the baseball season to end with a seventh game going into extra innings and the Chicago Cubs coming away as the 2016 World Series Champions. I confess I was hoping that Tito Francona's Indians would pull it off, but I'm just as happy to see the folks in Chicago have something to celebrate. As a die hard Red Sox fan I feel it only fair to warn all those long time Cub's fans that their Baseball World as they have come to know it will never be the same. Expectations have forever been raised now that you have tasted the Champagne of Victory in Chicago. The 108 years of suffering that served as your badge of honor has been permanently removed thanks to Free Agency, late season acquisitions, and a skinny kid from the streets of Brookline Massachusetts. My guess is that our former GM and 'business of baseball genius' Theo Epstein didn't sneak out of Progressive Field after last night's victory over the Indians wearing a Gorilla Suit. As long as he remains in Chicago he may never have to buy another beer. Watching the game last night I couldn't help but take note of all the familiar faces that spent time with us in Beantown; Epstein, Lester, Lackey, vs Francona, Crisp, Napoli, and Mills. So, you're welcome Chicago.......you're welcome Cleveland. As for the rest of us, we have three things to celebrate. 1. We no longer have to listen to Joe Buck invent words and overstate the obvious. 2. No more pre-game post game commentary from A-Roid. 3. The Equipment truck heads to Florida in less than four months.
